Hey friends! Today I want to tell you 5 dessert ideas for your wedding or reception. Everyone knows you gotta have a wedding cake, but it’s great to have other desserts there for your friends and family to enjoy before the cake is cut! Your dessert can help support your wedding theme, add a pop of color, a feeling of luxury, or just add some fun to your reception! There are so many to choose from, but I’ve especially loved some I’ve seen in the past year, and I wanted to share!
Macarons are a beautiful melt-in-your-mouth treat that can come in endless colors and flavors. You can coordinate them perfectly with your wedding colors and consider them part of your decor. They bring a feeling of sophistication and whimsy to your wedding and your guests will love them. They can be a bit pricier than some other options, but if you feel like treating yourself, macarons are a wonderful option. They photograph adorably too! These ones are from @lulubelle.bakes, owned by Lindsey Newman.
At first, this option may seem a bit strange, but bear with me. These waffles from Waffle Love were so delicious and a great comfort food on a cold January day. They were crispy but soft and warm, topped with delicious fresh fruit, Nutella, and whipped cream. Add some hot chocolate with optional toppings and you have the perfect winter dessert! Waffle Love has locations and food trucks peppered through Utah, as well as AZ, CA, TX, and Idaho and they’re so so yummy. Check them out on instagram @waffluv
Soft Serve & Toppings
Soft serve ice cream is delicious, refreshing on a hot day, and so versatile. Provide a range of toppings so your guests and make theirs however they want. Everyone wins! It’s also fun to have friends and family helping with serving and keeping the table looking nice. So many people will want to help you and this is a great job for them to do.
These cinnamon rolls from Cinnaholic were seriously to die for! I took one bite and was absolutely sold. They’re rich in flavor, filling, and so beautiful to look at. I love this unique idea! Serving cinnamon rolls at weddings may just be the next trend and I’m totally ok with that. Check out @cinnaholic on instagram to see more of their wide range of toppings and locations!
Cupcakes are adorable, delicious, and definitely a crowd-pleaser. There are so many different options for cupcakes but I love the bite-size ones that guests can grab and eat quickly and easily.
I try not to indulge *too much* at receptions but tasting all the delicious desserts is definitely a huge perk of being a wedding photographer! I loved these 5 and hope they help you decide what you want to serve at your wedding! Good luck!
